1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how The Java RN LLC, doing business as The Java Co. ("The Java RN," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit thejavarn.com, purchase products, create or use an account, sign up for communications, submit a form, contact us, request customer support, or otherwise interact with our website and services (collectively, the "Services").
This Privacy Policy applies to information that we control. Third-party services used through the website—such as website hosting, payment processing, shipping, or linked social media platforms—may separately collect and process information under their own privacy policies.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect the following categories of personal information:
Contact information, such as your name, email address, phone number, billing address, and shipping address.
Order and transaction information, such as the products you purchase, order date, order number, amount paid, discount used, fulfillment status, shipping information, and refund or exchange details.
Payment information. Payments are processed by third-party payment processors. We generally do not receive or store your complete payment card number, although we may receive limited payment-related details such as payment status, card type, and the last four digits of the card.
Account information, if customer accounts are available, such as your login credentials, saved contact information, order history, and account preferences.
Communications, including messages, reviews, survey responses, support requests, and information you provide when requesting a refund, replacement, corrected order, or replacement download link.
Marketing preferences, such as whether you subscribed to emails or other promotional communications and your communication preferences.
Device and usage information, which may include your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring pages, pages viewed, links clicked, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the dates and times you use the Services.
Cookie and similar-technology information, as described in Section 7.
If you request access to a digital file or a replacement link, we may ask for information needed to verify your purchase, such as your order number or the email address associated with the order.
Please do not provide sensitive health information in forms, reviews, or customer-service messages. Our educational products and Services are not intended to collect medical records or provide individualized medical advice.
3. How We Collect Information
We may collect personal information:
Directly from you when you place an order, create an account, submit a form, subscribe to communications, or contact us.
Automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use the website.
From service providers that help operate the Services, process payments, fulfill orders, provide analytics, prevent fraud, or support customer service.
From third-party platforms when you choose to interact with us through those platforms or use a feature that connects to them.
4. How We Use Information
We may use personal information to:
Process payments and complete, fulfill, and ship orders.
Provide digital products, download access, product updates, or replacement file links.
Create and manage customer accounts.
Respond to questions and provide customer support.
Process refunds, exchanges, replacements, corrections, disputes, and chargebacks.
Communicate with you about orders, accounts, transactions, security, and changes to the Services.
Send marketing communications when you have subscribed or when otherwise permitted by law.
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, personalize, analyze, and improve the website, products, packaging, and customer experience.
Detect and prevent fraud, security incidents, unauthorized access, misuse, and unauthorized redistribution of digital products.
Maintain tax, accounting, operational, and legal records.
Enforce our terms and protect our rights, customers, business, and Services.
Comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, and lawful requests.
We may use information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it cannot reasonably identify you for lawful business purposes.
5. Legal Bases for Processing — EEA and UK
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing personal information may include:
Contract: to process payment, fulfill and deliver your order, provide downloads, manage your account, and provide requested support.
Legal obligation: to maintain required tax, accounting, and legal records and respond to lawful requests.
Legitimate interests: to operate and improve the Services, communicate with customers, secure the website, prevent fraud and misuse, protect our products, and resolve disputes, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
Consent: for optional marketing communications, non-essential cookies, or another optional use when consent is required. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
6. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to:
Website and commerce providers that host the website, support online checkout, provide customer-account features, or operate related website functions.
Payment processors and financial institutions that process transactions, refunds, disputes, and fraud checks.
Shipping, fulfillment, production, and packaging providers that help produce, package, or deliver physical products.
Digital-delivery and cloud-storage providers used to provide purchased files, updates, or replacement links.
Email, customer-service, analytics, security, and business-operations providers that help us communicate with customers, understand website performance, secure the Services, and operate the business.
Professional advisers, such as accountants, bookkeepers, tax professionals, attorneys, insurers, and other business advisers.
Government agencies, courts, regulators, law enforcement, or other parties when required by law or when reasonably necessary to comply with legal process, enforce agreements, prevent harm or fraud, or protect legal rights.
A successor or prospective successor in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, acquisition, or similar business transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
We do not sell personal information for money. We also do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or share it for that purpose unless we clearly disclose that practice and provide any legally required choice.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The website and its service providers may use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies that are necessary to operate checkout and other site features, remember preferences, maintain security, prevent fraud, measure site traffic and performance, and understand how visitors use the Services.
Where required, we will request consent before using non-essential cookies. You may be able to manage cookie preferences through a cookie banner or settings tool on the website. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, although disabling necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Services from working correctly.
Some browsers offer a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal or similar privacy preference. Where legally required and technically supported, we will treat a recognized signal as a request to opt out of covered processing for that browser or device.
8. Digital Products and File Access
We may sell digital nursing study materials, printable PDFs, spreadsheets, templates, or physical products that include digital access as a feature, courtesy, or bonus. If you purchase or request access to a digital product, we may use your order information and email address to provide downloads, updates, replacement links, and customer support.
Purchased files and private access links are licensed only to the purchaser unless the product listing or written license states otherwise. They may not be shared, resold, redistributed, uploaded, or publicly posted without written permission. Information may be used as reasonably necessary to investigate or prevent suspected unauthorized access, fraud, or misuse.
9. Marketing Communications
We may send marketing emails or promotional communications if you separately subscribe, request them, or if otherwise permitted by applicable law. You may unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us at support@thejavarn.com.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending non-promotional communications about an order, account, transaction, security issue, or customer-service request.
We do not add customers to a marketing list solely because they made a purchase unless applicable law permits it and an opt-out is provided.
10. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and may reflect order fulfillment, customer service, account management, tax and accounting requirements, legal compliance, fraud prevention, chargebacks, dispute resolution, and enforcement of agreements.
When information is no longer reasonably needed, we may delete or de-identify it. Some information may remain in backups or may be retained longer when required or permitted by law.
11. International Data Transfers
The Java RN is based in the United States. If you access the Services from another country, your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have data-protection laws that differ from the laws where you live.
When required, we and our service providers use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers of personal information.
12. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to:
Request access to or a copy of personal information we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
Request deletion of personal information.
Request restriction of or object to certain processing.
Request a portable copy of certain personal information.
Withdraw consent when processing is based on consent.
Opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale, or sharing practices if applicable.
Appeal our decision regarding a privacy request if local law provides that right.
Lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.
To submit a privacy request, email support@thejavarn.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing the request. You may use an authorized agent where applicable law permits, but we may request proof of the agent's authority and verification of your identity.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. We may deny or limit a request when permitted by law, including when we cannot verify your identity or must retain information for legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, contractual, or dispute-resolution purposes.
If your request concerns information controlled by a third-party platform or service, you may also need to contact that provider directly.
13. Third-Party Links and Services
The Services may contain links to third-party websites, social media pages, applications, or services. We are not responsible for the privacy, security, or content practices of third parties. Review their privacy policies before providing personal information.
14. Children's Privacy
The Services and products are intended for nursing students, healthcare students, and adults and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided us with personal information may contact us at support@thejavarn.com.
15. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. However, no website, transmission, payment system, email system, or storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our business practices, Services, providers, products, or legal obligations. The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. If required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent.

Return & Refund Policy — The Java Co.
This policy applies to purchases made through thejavarn.com from The Java RN LLC, doing business as The Java Co., by customers in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
30-Day Returns for Physical Products
We accept returns of both defective and non-defective physical products. For change-of-mind returns, contact us within 30 calendar days after delivery.
Items returned because you changed your mind must be new, unused, unmarked, and complete with all included components. Please include the original packaging where possible. These condition requirements do not restrict your rights concerning faulty products or eligible UK statutory cancellations.
How to Start a Return
Email support@thejavarn.com with your order number or other proof of purchase and the item you wish to return. If there is a problem with your order, describe the issue and include photos if available.
We will provide the return address and mailing instructions. Returns are completed by mail. For our voluntary 30-day returns, please send the item within 14 days after receiving return instructions. We recommend keeping proof of postage.
Contacting us for instructions does not make a statutory cancellation dependent on our approval.
Return Shipping & Fees
For change-of-mind returns, customers are responsible for purchasing the return label and paying return postage, including international postage where applicable.
For confirmed defective, damaged, incorrect, or misdescribed items, we will provide a prepaid return option or reimburse reasonable return postage if a return is required.
We do not charge restocking fees.
Original delivery charges are generally not refunded for change-of-mind returns, except where required by law, including qualifying UK cancellations. Where a refund is due because of a confirmed product defect or our error, we will also refund the applicable original delivery charge.
Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items
Please contact us as soon as you discover a problem. We will assess the issue and arrange a refund, replacement, repair, or other remedy appropriate to the circumstances and your legal rights.
Our 30-day change-of-mind window does not limit claims that remain valid under consumer law. Faulty items do not need to be unused or in their original packaging to qualify for a legally required remedy.
Exchanges
We do not offer change-of-mind exchanges. To purchase a different item, return the eligible original item for a refund and place a new order.
This does not exclude replacements required under consumer law for faulty or incorrect products.
Refund Processing
For eligible physical returns, we will inspect the item and issue the refund to your original payment method within 5 calendar days after receiving it. If no return is required, we will issue the refund within 5 calendar days after confirming your entitlement.
We will meet any earlier deadline required by law. Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to display the refund.
Digital Products
Our voluntary 30-day physical-product return policy does not apply to digital downloads, including PDFs, study guides, templates, and spreadsheets. Once supplied, digital products are not eligible for change-of-mind refunds, except where cancellation or refund rights apply by law.
If a file is faulty, inaccessible, incorrect, or materially different from its description, contact us for assistance and any remedy to which you are entitled.
For UK customers, the statutory 14-day cancellation right for digital content is lost only once supply begins after you have expressly agreed to immediate supply, acknowledged the loss of that right, and received the required contract confirmation. If these requirements are not met, applicable cancellation rights remain.
Country-Specific Consumer Rights
United States: Our 30-day return policy applies alongside any rights available under applicable federal and state law.
United Kingdom: For eligible online purchases of physical goods, you may cancel without giving a reason by notifying us within 14 days after delivery. You then have another 14 days to send the goods back. You may inspect items as you would in a shop; our “new and unused” requirement does not override this right. Where legally permitted, a deduction may apply for diminished value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to inspect the goods.
For a qualifying cancellation of your entire order, we refund the basic outbound delivery charge. Any additional amount paid for premium delivery need not be refunded. Refunds will be made without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we receive the goods or evidence that you sent them back, whichever occurs first. Our 5-day processing commitment also applies.
Australia: Where the Australian Consumer Law applies, your consumer guarantees cannot be excluded by this policy. A major product failure gives you a choice of refund or replacement, with other compensation available where applicable. For a minor failure, we will provide an appropriate remedy within a reasonable time.
New Zealand: Where the Consumer Guarantees Act applies, you retain your rights to products of acceptable quality that match their description and are fit for purpose. We will remedy qualifying faults within a reasonable time. For a serious failure, you may reject the product and choose a refund or replacement, subject to the Act.
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or replaces consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
